The Madman

Who would listen to the rumblings of a madman?
His tone deaf words based in selfish thought.
Who would care for the life of the madman?
His cursed self worth, hopes and dreams for naught.

The madman he cries, to anyone who hears.
But who would care for his vacant tears.

Who would listen to the rumblings of the madman?
He groans and he moans. He only complains.
Why do we listen to the grumblings of the madman?
He only shares his burdens, his sadness, his pains.

The madman is worthless. Just let him lie there.
Maybe he deserves his sadness and despair.

Why are we listening to the rumblings of the madman?
Its easier to move on, to forget, and walk away.
We hear the complaints, the words of the madman.
But something compels us to listen to what he has to say.

The madman shares his struggle. He tries to teach a lesson.
He tries to shed his wisdom. But if only we would listen.

Maybe we could learn from the rumblings of the madman?
If we paused for a second, and turned a vigilant ear.
Listen close to the grumblings of the madman.
He may give a lesson to those who are near.

“I don’t want to be positive.
What do I have left?
Maybe a lesson will come,
But it seems only after my death.

We take for granted those around us.
Like tomorrows another day.
But no one is promised tomorrow.
So will you use your words now to say?

Will you tell those you love how you really feel?
Or will you hide your true feelings, your passion and zeal?
We take for granted the time we have left.
Forgetting tomorrow could be our guaranteed death.

Forget tomorrow. An forget yesterday.
The only power you have affects today.

You’ve spent your lifetime waiting for their approval
You know they care not for your genius. So make your removal.

You’ve spent a life doing your best,
for them to give you another test.
You’ve searched for their love,
but yet you can’t do enough.
Eventually the clock runs out,
And finally your patience runs out.

So forget the struggle and live for right now.
Don’t wait for the approval or ask for how.

Make your decision. And Let it be final.
Stop making excuses and living in denial.”

Why do we listen to the rumblings of the madman?
Are we compelled to hear, listen, and discuss?
Or do we listen to the grumblings of the madman,
Because we know at the end, the madman is us.
